Background
It can be fun to put photos and images together in order to make a nice montage, mosaic, etc. A few tools do this and we’ve selected two “Swiss knife” tools that offer that capability.
Recommendation
The first tool we recommend to look into for that kind of fun usage is Photoscape. This tool is a bit of a viewer, of an editor as well as many other things, and it does also include nice features to combine photos on a page in various ways, as well as to generate animated GIF images.
The other tool you can look into is Google’s Picasa, a tool that focuses on organizing your photos and pictures, though it does so by creating time-based folders which many users won’t like too much, and also does a great job at viewing. It also includes a very interesting montage feature that helps creating nice combinations of your favourite images.
For Mosaic work we also recommend Foto-Mosaik-Edda, a very tool that produces mosaic that look like one of your photos. The effect is stunning and you can achieve very impressive mosaics out of a large collection of photos.
